Research Overview

Welcome to the Craig group blog and website. For recent highlights from the group (both scientific and other), please visit our Latest News page.

The research projects in the group bridge synthetic organic, physical, and materials chemistry. Many current interests arise from a desire to design and synthesize new classes of self-healing polymers. As part of that work, we are learning how mechanical forces might create new chemistry within individual molecules, nanoscale assemblies, and bulk materials. We are particularly, but by no means exclusively, interested in mechanochemical effects in self-assembled materials — small molecules that spontaneously organize through relatively weak, reversible interactions.
